Sorry for dredging up an old thread, but just wondering are these in fact any stronger than the original ones ??

Only asking because i was just looking at my RRV4 and noticed that i smashed not one but two CVD's in one race, the final on the weekend.  The first one was completely shattered to bits and the new one that i replaced it with now has a chunk missing from it.... cannot believe it, that's two in one race.

So that's what bring me to the above question... i still have 2 more spares of the old ones, so do i smash them first or just get the new ones ??

Franco , depends what you think broke the others ?? not enough lock pressure on the pin ??or
cup ??  or pure pounding ,or perhaps just not strong enough ,there is no doubt however whatever
the reason ,extra lock ,a floating pin and Vanadium quality ,might be a one off purchase ,and
a Pram beating way of life

one off purchase definately NOT! i had one of the new drive cups crack exactly the same place as the older version.  cracked from the outer edge going to one of the holes. are they stronger/better than the original ones definately YES.

we should all know by now the is no such thing as unbreakable when it comes to rc car racing/bashing

Well i'm a half decent driver   But i know i'm not the best... both the two mk2 CVD's were smashed mostly because from bad landing / cartwheeling off the jump, don't think i had any collisions that i can remember.

Anyway, got a set now and just got to do that grinding thing on the driveshaft end of the CVD... but also just wondering if you guys actually use a set screw on them or not ??  I can see that it's really not necessary but just thought i'd ask anyway.

Ok thanks, didn't really think it would be necessary either.

Been having to clean the barrel up a bit, all jammed up and wouldn't move freely very well at all.
