New Member Registration Requirements

Do to some spammers trying to register and spamm our site we have now made it so new members have to be approved before there membership is activated.

I was being bombarded by dozens of new members appearing in my inbox. Bloody spammers. As Venom so eloquently once put it they can F.O.A.D!

Seriously though if anyone suspects a spam post before a mod does could you please PM one of us to let us know.

The only way to avoid this is to implement a spam filter that ask a question, the same as largescaleforums etc,

Ok people, that was me above ;D. Turns out the spambots were programmed to target SMF forums so it was not just us. We have implemented a simple addition to the registration procedure that should fool the bots (its asks them if they are human!) so  hopefully we see no more of them.
